Testimonials

Thomas Dolan, British Dressage, Young Rider (BYRDS)
Joёlle Steyt has been giving Physiotherapy treatment to my Dressage horses for about 2 years now. Joёlle has always been very informative explaining exactly what she is doing, this has meant that I am then able to ride and train in a way which promotes my horses softness and suppleness through their backs. This has been paramount to my competing success. For example; I have one horse that is a little long in the back and he would become tight quite easily. With Joёlle's help and regular visits we were able to get him softer through the back and working much better. With this horse we then got called up to represent England where he came 3rd and we were also a member of the winning team at the under 21's inter-regional 2007. Without Joёlle's help I don't believe this success would have been possible with this horse. Before using Joёlle I had not incorporated equine Physiotherapy into my training, after using it and seeing the results for myself I would not go without it, and I would recommend using equine Physiotherapy with any horse regardless of discipline as well-being is paramount. With Joёlle's help and services I am hoping to take my latest ride to represent Great Britain at Young Rider level.

I have been a client of Joёlle's for a number of years, and I have always found her systematic assessment and approach to my horse to be totally beneficial, whether it be for a specific problem or just a general check over.
As a result, I have recommended her to many of my own clients, all of whom have experienced a improvement in their horses comfort and way of going.

Thanks to Joёlle's treatment and advice, Debonair Star was rehabilitated from being lame and reluctant to canter because of back pain to being placed in the British Dressage Northern Regional Championship at Elementary level. Now I have learnt the value of physiotherapy, I make sure my horses have regular check-ups to catch problems before they become more serious.

Joёlle has made a difference to my own horses and the horses that I take in for re education. For horses that have become tight or sore in their backs or for those that are just coming back into work, Joёlle's work is invaluable. After treatment their way of going becomes looser and they become more willing to work. Joёlle is extremely thorough and has a real ability to see where pain is coming from and will always be straight with you if she thinks it is something she is not able to help with.
This is Daisy and Little Mickey Finn who you treated a few months ago. His back was very sore and tight. We were worried there might be something more serious when you saw how bad he was but he made such an improvement after your treatment it was obvious that it was just muscle damage from an injury in the field. As you can see on the picture, he is like a cat and as neat as a pin!! He has been doing very well in JAS and Grasshopper competitions, he has his first BE competition this week end so fingers crossed!!

Although there are various 'physiotherapy' courses that someone can attend, members of the Association of Chartered Animal Physiotherapists (ACPAT) will either have completed the MSc/Postgraduate Diploma in Veterinary Physiotherapy run by the Royal Veterinary College or completed the ACPAT Core Knowledge and Skills course. CPD is required to remain member of the association of ACPAT. Seminars and courses are organised every year by ACPAT and the Royal Veterinary College in association with Veterinary Surgeons. Unlike the title 'Veterinary Surgeon', the title 'Animal or Veterinary Physiotherapist' is not protected by law, which means that anyone can in theory call themselves an animal or veterinary physiotherapist regardless of their qualifications. The Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy (ACPAT) is recognized by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) as the Clinical Interest Group representing the interests of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy.
